Abstract

This research is based on destination image and digitally controlled images. The objective of this research was to create a database composed of controlled images used on the internet in the city of Guanajuato. It is based on the Diaz-Pacheco et al. (2023) model, which aims to classify controlled images as positive or negative using various techniques. The perception of the type of image can affect the decision to visit a tourist destination, in this case, the city of Guanajuato. The methodology combines qualitative and quantitative approaches; the study universe comprises controlled images of Guanajuato city online. The sample consisted of 300 controlled images collected from official organizations' websites and from stakeholders’ websites and Instagram accounts. This database will be used to perform a content analysis of the types of scenes found, identifying their disparities. The results of the collected database show images from official agencies and stakeholders that promote a favorable, positive, and pleasing image of Guanajuato as a tourist destination, maintaining consistency in digital marketing. The sample size is a limitation, and the collection of uncontrolled images using AI remains a future line of research.
