IMPACT OF CULTURAL AND GASTRONOMIC TOURISM ON THE ECONOMY OF THE CHONTAL ZONE IN COMALCALCO, WITH A GENDER PERSPECTIVE
Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of cultural and gastronomic tourism on the economy of the Chontal zone in Comalcalco. Tourism is a valuable instrument for both economic and social development and should contribute to economic growth. This research seeks to strengthen cultural identity, improve the quality of life for both women and men, and preserve the natural wealth of the local area. The methodology employed is a documentary approach with an exploratory-descriptive design, utilizing secondary information from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). The results indicate that a well-implemented promotion of cultural and gastronomic tourism, which is diverse and abundant in natural resources, wildlife, and cocoa plantations in this municipality, leads to increased economic growth and development in the region.
