ARCHITECTURAL CULTURAL TOURISM. AGUASCALIENTES AFTER THE PANDEMIC
Abstract
With the global health emergency, the great world tourist centres were involved in a crisis. Given this, unexpectedly, cities not classified within an international "ranking", and sometimes not even national - Mexico is one of the best positioned countries as a tourist destination in the world- not only were not affected and even presented in some circumstances rebound.
Methodologically, this research is part of a macro project on architectural heritage that we developed at the Autonomous University of Aguascalientes.
Some results: In the case of Aguascalientes, its national fair cancelled, its traditional religious festivals limited, tourism in small contingents continued to flow constantly in a particular way with regard to its constructions. The relative social peace of the place, its benign climate and its architecture arranged in a friendly urban environment, were factors to allow and encourage the visit of travellers seeking in the city experiences framed in different tourist segments of the cultural field without compromising health security as good part of the activities take place in open spaces and those closed are not conducive to large numbers of people.
Architectural appreciation of buildings from the 17th to the 20th centuries, concentrated in small tours, local celebrations accompanied by traditional gastronomy, routes of oenological experiences and museums in which some gems of Mexican artistic nationalism are kept, are part of a discreet but varied and rich tourism in diversity, offered by Aguascalientes after the pandemic.
