Rebuilding the workforms of patagonia through historical-tourist circuits in the province of santa cruz (argentina) and puerto natales (chile)
Abstract
From the stories of the tragic events of the workers' strikes that took place in the Argentine-Chilean Patagonia, between 1919 and 1921, it is tried through various historical-tourist circuits, to demonstrate its importance in the development of social movements, workers and unions of the last century in this Austral zone of Patagonia.
The workers strike of 1919 in Puerto Natales (Chilean Patagonia) is an important antecedent to understand the tragic events of the massacre of the headquarters of the Workers' Federation of Magallanes of Punta Arenas in 1920, and of the events of 1920-1921, which occurred in the Argentine Patagonia and that would be sadly known as Patagonia tragica or Patagonia rebelde.
Upon complation of the Centennial of the Workers' Strike occurred in Puerto Bories and Puerto Natales in February 2019, a tourist-historical Circuit is proposed as a novelty, based on the most important locations linked to the events of 1919, allowing us to reconstruct a the story of the tragic events of the Workers' Revolt of the Tierra del Fuego Exploitation Society, a fact little known and spread to the present in Chilean history.
On the Argentine side, we summarize the historical-tourist circuits that are currently being promoted on this subject at the provincial level, framed in a growing interest for the recovery of the historical Truth of these events that would mark with fire the history of the Patagonian workers movement.
