The architectural and natural heritage and its role in the development of sustainable mountain tourism in chefchaouen and its hinterland (Morocco)
Abstract
The city of Chefchaouen is located in the Rif Mountains in Northern Morocco. Its history, its mountainous location and its unique urban landscape, combining Andalusian and Moroccan architecture, have provided it with an international reputation and have become a favorite spot for tourists from all over the world, especially those seeking tranquility and enjoyment of the mountainous climate. Taking advantage of the mountainous climate, it is renowned for its cleanliness and its particular intimacy, based on designs to promote it to become the capital of mountain tourism in Northern Morocco.
In this paper, we will discuss the role of natural and urban heritage, in accordance with the integrated approach to the overall development of mountain cities. (a) We will address the following question: How have the different components of the city of Chefchaouen contributed to collective management, ancient history, unique architecture and local resources by imposing its space as an autonomous tourist destination? (b) What alternative projects can be undertaken to develop them and consider a promising future for sustainable development?
The primary objective of the research is to highlight the opportunities for the development of the city of Chefchaouen and its surrounding area, and to try it tiring a way for mountain and heritage tourism.
The research also seeks to achieve the following objectives:
- Firsly, monitor and diagnotize earth resources, heritage and natural, unique to the city of Chefchaouen.
- Secondly, avis at the strengths and weaknesses of the studied field.
- Finally, this paper also avis at developing a tourism development project that can evaluate all the tourism qualifications of this space within the overall context of sustainable development.
