Smart tourist destinations management in Tabasco
Abstract
Smart tourism management arises from optimizing the experience and sustainability of destinations as a strategy to innovate and integrate technologies within an environment, thus achieving the promotion, efficiency, and quality of tourism services, while integrating community participation to ensure equitable and sustainable development. Various authors view smart tourism as an evolution of e-tourism; however, the difference between the two lies in the fact that the use of technologies has enabled connectivity, and the integration of networks has been achieved, bringing together key elements such as governance, innovation, technology, and sustainability (Arévalo et al., 2025). This research aims to explore the potential opportunities that smart tourism destination management can generate in our region by identifying tourism structures and activities that are conducive to smart growth coupled with the continuous improvement of communities. The research methodology employed is a descriptive-argumentative documentary approach, as an analysis will determine the benefits and feasibility of transforming the state's rural communities into smart tourism destinations. It is expected that the research results will provide a general overview for making effective decisions that will boost the various tourist destinations by employing smart transformation and innovation within the region, thus contributing to economic, social, and cultural development.
