Cultural tourism in the balearic islands: a case of efficient use of cultural historical heritage
Abstract
At present, and following the misuse of the various resources avalaible by mass tourism in the Balearic Islands, and the need to change products and and customers to ensure cultural survival by the destination, there has been a redefinition of the cultural historical heritage, in such a way, that it is considered today as an economic resource and is valued as a factor of development in the context of a new way of tourism.
In this scenario we suggest the conservation and use of part of the balearic cultural heritage, such a watchtowers of the Serra de Tramontana, named Worls Heritage by UNESCO, through the creation of at least one of the called dark chambers, such as the existing in the Torre Tavira in the city of Cadiz.
We propose the use of a cultural resource avalaible in the Balearic Islands, but from an efficient and productive perspective and not, as until now, as a historical element continget on public financing for its sustenance. This new path offers to the owners through the collaborative economy, the conservation, the visit of the real state and the development of the cultural tourism on the island.
