The visit to the virgen de la carrasca church, Bordón- Teruel, as a dynamic element of cultural tourism in emptied Spain
Abstract
oday, cultural tourism is one of the hypersegments of the tourist offer that has the greatest projection and that in many cases is linked to the so-called rural and nature tourism. By combining these three concepts, we find that there is a high demand for this new cultural-rural-natural scenario, which allows the economy of small towns in empty Spain to be revitalised, while at the same time allowing their different heritages to survive, through changes in use or shared uses that allow them to be exploited economically without altering their essence.
We therefore propose, within the context of a descriptive projective methodology, a visit to the Church of the Virgen de la Carrasca in Bordón, Teruel, of Templar origin and well known for its enigmatic frescoes, as a highlight of the village, as well as the creation of a multidisciplinary interpretation centre related to it, which also includes interpretations of its other heritage assets and natural sites, as a way of boosting the economy of this population across the board.
To achieve this end, it is essential to develop an appropriate experiential marketing plan, which not only allows public knowledge of the area through the latest marketing tools such as storytelling, but also takes advantage and enhances the synergy of this tourist segment in the entire area of Teruel Maestrazgo.
